Mark McAllister, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona, and pursued vitreoretinal fellowships at University of Chicago/University Retina and University of California, Davis. He is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Dr. McAllister’s clinical focus is on the surgical and medical care of complex retinal detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, secondary intraocular lenses, and retinopathy of prematurity. He emphasizes clear communication, compassionate care, and partnering with patients to make treatment decisions that fit their lives.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. McAllister graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he discovered a lasting love of organic chemistry. He spent four years doing volunteer mission work after high school, an experience that shaped his commitment to community and service.
Outside of medicine he and his wife are new parents to a daughter. He enjoys hiking, long-distance running, and listening to blues and electronic music, and he brings that same steady, energetic approach to caring for his patients.
